Values

We believe in using handmade, locally sourced, sustainable products wherever we can - in the design of our property and in the products and services we provide to our guests.

We believe in supporting our local New Mexico / Southwest art and business communities wherever we can, and as our guest you will have many opportunities to experience some of our favorite local art and goods during your stay. We encourage you to support the local artists, makers, and small businesses of our state during your travels in New Mexico.

We believe in slowing down and making time for genuine connection, rest, and human experiences. Our property is designed to support these values during your stay with us.

We believe in giving back to our New Mexico community, as well as in honoring and acknowledging the history of the occupied indigenous land that our property sits on. We encourage you to visit the nearby Indian Pueblo Cultural Center during your stay to learn more about the native peoples of New Mexico during your visit here.

The Desert Compass donates a portion of all profits to organizations that work to empower Indigenous and disenfranchised communities in the Southwest to realize racial and gender equality, and social, economic, and environmental justice. We currently donate to:

TEWA WOMEN UNITED

Nurturing and celebrating the collective power of beloved families, communities, and Nung Ochuu Quiyo (Earth Mother)

Located in the ancestral Tewa homelands of Northern New Mexico, Tewa Women United is a multicultural and multiracial organization founded and led by Native women. The name “Tewa Women United” comes from the Tewa words wi don gi mu which can be translated as “we are one” in mind, heart, and in the spirit of love for all.
