About The Desert Compass
The Desert Compass is a historic adobe compound of 6 boutique vacation rentals located in the heart of historic Old Town Albuquerque.
The 3 historic adobe buildings on our property have been thoughtfully remodeled into 6 unique guest suites, featuring high quality furniture and finishings, local artwork, luxurious amenities, and all the best southwest vibes.
Our grounds feature lush gardens and a modern desert setting, and our location puts you in proximity to Albuquerque’s best sites, including historic Old Town plaza. Our suites can accommodate from 1 to 4 guests each, and the property can accommodate up to 22 with a private property buyout.
Our Story
Our founder, helped along with a small team of family and friends, spent two years remodeling this historic compound, doing much of the work themselves. They gave the old adobe buildings new life, creating a dreamy desert retreat to share with visitors to our beloved home state of New Mexico.
Each suite was uniquely designed to reflect the original character of the building, and was created in collaboration with local southwest artists (with a focus on women and indigenous artists), in order to highlight the unique character of our local culture and create a reciprocal travel experience that encourages visitors to explore and support local artists, makers, and business owners during their time in New Mexico.
We are a small family operation and have put our heart into every part of the guest experience at The Desert Compass - and it is our hope that you will feel it when you stay here.
Our Team
The Desert Compass is run by a small team - our founder, Kelly, and our Manager, Taya, who are available to answer questions or address any needs that come up during your stay. You may also see our wonderful cleaning, landscaping, or maintenance staff around the property.
